New Oscar Envelope Design

I think it was Tom Hanks who, while presenting, commented on the re-design of the award envelopes at the Academy Awards. A good image of the envelope finally surfaced online so you can see it without someone holding it. Check it out below and read about it on the blog Redesign Related.

Water for Elephants

I am currently reading Water for Elephants - the novel by Canadian author Sara Gruen which is coming out on April 22nd as a movie starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson. The reason for featuring it here is because normally books with gorgeous cover art are replaced with less-stunning posters from the film and sometimes equally disappointing films. But the poster art for Water for Elephants already lives up to the book cover and the film looks as though it will live up to the book. Check out both below and see the film trailer here.

Beci Orpin

I am always impressed by illustrators, but Beci Orpin is extra inspirational because of how she has applied her illustration skills to a diverse range of applications from fashion prints to book covers and a myriad of things in between. Her website is full of brilliantly colourful backgrounds showcasing each project. Check out a few of my favourites below as well as the rest of her portfolio here.

Lee - reusable bags (no, seriously, this is the world's coolest bag!)

With a focus on not using bags when we shop, it is easy to see why this concept is so clever. Instead of shying away from handing out a shopping bag, why not make every part of the bag something reusable? That is exactly what Happy Creative Services did for Lee. We had a craft night yesterday and with some foam hearts from Dollarama, some ribbon, and glue, we made Valentine's Day cards. Very simple, but fun!
